Unwelcomed Exhibit (WLPL)
The Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana (FHCCI), in partnership with the West Lafayette Public Library, is hosting Unwelcomed: A Fair Housing History of Sales & Lending Discrimination, an interactive exhibit, from May 1-June 3, 2025. The exhibit will educate participants on the systemic barriers that have impacted today’s neighborhoods through redlining, racial covenants, steering, neighborhood intimidation, and other forms of housing discrimination. Modern-day forms of housing discrimination in sales and lending will also be highlighted.
The exhibit highlights the history of sales and lending discrimination that led to the segregation of Indianapolis neighborhoods, but this installation includes BONUS content that is Tippecanoe County-specific thanks to a special collaboration with the Racial Reconciliation of Greater Lafayette.
Check it out on the 2nd floor of the library during their normal business hours
The exhibit is funded through support by First Merchants Bank. For the additional references noted on the exhibit panel or to view a digital version of the exhibit, click here.
