How You Can Help
Want to help us advance fair housing? There are many ways you can help.
Refer Victims: This most important work we do is help victims of housing discrimination understand their rights under law. Very often, people do not know what happened to them was unlawful or may not know what to do. Referring people to the FHCCI can begin the process of addressing the discriminatory practice and getting it stopped. You can see the results of our work through our Advocacy Program.
Events: You can attend one of our many events! Each year, we host an annual Fair Housing Conference. We also host a number of free (in-person and virtual) events through the year. Some of our events also offer continuing education credits. Share the information you learned and encourage others to attend as well. Just go to our Events Page for the latest list.
Speaking Requests: If you know of an organization, community group, religious organization, etc. who would benefit from learning more about fair housing or housing related needs, please refer them to us! This assists us in spreading the message of fair housing and allows for more people to learn about ways that they can take action.
Become a Tester: Testers are every day Americans who help us uncover housing discrimination. Testers are paid a stipend for their time and tests are scheduled based upon the tester’s schedule. Testers help us only a few hours each month or several hours – it depends on the tester. Learn more on our Jobs Page.
Donate: The FHCCI cannot meet its yearly fundraising goals without donations from our fair housing supporters. Your donation helps the FHCCI across all our programs. The FHCCI is a 501c3 nonprofit organization so your donation is tax deductible. You can donate here. We appreciate any and all support!
Sign Up for Our E-Newsletter: The FHCCI publishes a monthly e-newsletter that has updates on Indiana and national fair housing news, shares community events, and provides updates on other fair housing activities. It’s free! You can sign up here.
Follow Us on Social Media: The FHCCI actively posts on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. We also have a YouTube page which hosts our videos. Follow our pages and share posts to spread the message of fair housing. In fact, during 2020, we’re adding even more ways to help promote fair housing through our 20 Ways Social Media Campaign. Keep checking back as we add more media.
Help Us in the Indiana Statehouse: The FHCCI is active at the local, state, and federal level in fighting for strong housing policies. We need your help! This may mean signing on to letters of bill support, contacting legislators, sharing social media, testifying at hearings, and other activities. Our Public Policy Page summarizes our activities. To follow breaking events and needs on public policy, watch our social media pages.
