Just Action: An Evening with Leah Rothstein
August 1, 2023
6:00 – 9:00 PM (Eastern)
Newfields – The Toby – Indianapolis, IN
FREE – REGISTER HERE
Join us for an evening with Leah Rothstein, author with her father Richard Rothstein of “Just Action: How to Challenge Segregation Enacted Under the Color of Law.” Their new book is a follow up Mr. Rothstein’s civil rights book, “The Color Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America.”
There will be a pre-event opening reception where attendees can tour the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana’s (FHCCI) “Unwelcomed: A Fair Housing History of Sales & Lending Discrimination” and visit partner resource tables. The two-hour event will officially open with an overview of homeownership gaps impacting people of color, mortgage lending/redlining issues, and rental barriers (evictions, substandard housing, rising rents, etc) to set the stage for the evening’s discussion. Ms. Rothstein will then discuss the key findings from her book and how the public can take needed action to address housing disparities. Time will also be provided for a Q&A with Ms. Rothstein. A book signing will follow the event.
“Just Action” answers the question, “How do we challenge the racial divisions in our communities?” It provides a critical blueprint for redressing residential segregation for advocates, community leaders, and concerned residents alike.
