Fair Housing Watchdog Contest
Calling All Supercanines!
The Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana (FHCCI) is looking for pups of all sorts to join the Fair Housing Watchdogs! Members of the Watchdog pack will help promote fair housing through various mediums, including public service announcements, possibly model for our 2016 FHCCI Fair Housing Watchdog calendar, and get our audiences to melt from doggy cuteness.
If you think your pup(s) has what it takes to be a member of the pack, we’d love to have ‘em!
Items needed for submission:
- A camera-ready photo(s) of your pup that shows ‘em at their finest (in costume or not!),
- A supercanine name that isn’t copyrighted and includes the dog’s name in some way,
- A supercanine power(s) to help the Watchdogs eliminate housing discrimination (only one or two please),
- An explanation of what fair housing means to you and your pup (Answer with: Fair Housing Is…), and
- Tell us something else you’d like to share about your pup. Please keep it to a short paragraph. For example, you could tell us how your supercanine become part of your family or what your pup likes to do.
How to Enter:
- Submit photo(s), submission information, and your contact information to info@fhcci.org
- “Like” the FHCCI’s Facebook page.
- After the FHCCI staff has reviewed your submission to ensure fair housing relativity, we will then post your photo and information on our designated Fair Housing Watchdogs Competition photo album on Facebook.
- Get you and your Facebook friends to “like” that photo. The photo with the most “likes” on the FHCCI’s photo only (not photos shared by you and/or your friends) will win an automatic spot in the Fair Housing Watchdogs pack!
- The other submissions will also be reviewed by the FHCCI staff to determine which supercanines have made it into the pack by November 2015.
Competition is open from NOW, Thursday, August 27, 2015, until Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 11:59pm EST.
A few notes:
- The earlier you submit your photo(s) and information, the more time you have of getting the most “likes”!
- You don’t have to reside in Indianapolis, or even Indiana. This is a nation-wide competition, so be sure to tell your friends!
- Be sure to remove any copyrighted material showing if your pup is wearing a costume of some sort, i.e. a “Superman” costume or emblem.
- The FHCCI will determine eligibility based on content and photos submitted. Items not relevant to the mission of the FHCCI will not be included in the competition.
- The FHCCI staff will do its best at getting the photo and information submitted to the Facebook photo album as soon as possible after they have reviewed, during the FHCCI office hours of Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm EST.
- By entering in the competition, you give rights to the FHCCI to use your supercanine as a creative character for any fictional stories or similar matter for marketing purposes of fair housing.
- Facebook is in no way related to this competition.
Need some help figuring out what fair housing means? Here are some examples of what fair housing has meant to our current watchdogs:
- Fair Housing Is…YOU determining your success, NOT the zip code you were born in.
- Fair Housing Is…allowing people to choose one of their most basic rights as human beings.
- Fair Housing Is…ensuring that housing rules and policies do not treat children differently than adults.
- Fair Housing Is…me and my owners not being denied housing because there are little humans (you call them children) in the household.
- Fair Housing Is…not being denied an apartment because my owner needs me to help her get around.
- Fair Housing Is…my owners volunteering at clean up events because we believe in our neighborhood.
- Fair Housing Is…my owners not being steered into a bad loan just because of the color of their skin.
- Fair Housing Is…having access to good schools, transportation, jobs, sidewalks, and street lights in my neighborhood.
- Fair Housing Is…having ramps going into apartment buildings when there used to be just stairs.
- Fair Housing Is…my two dads being able to live together and not being denied an apartment.
- Fair Housing Is…working together to fight poverty.
- Fair Housing Is…it being unlawful to say “No Hispanics.”
Or, visit the FHCC’s website at www.fhcci.org for ideas. Still not sure about this contest, check out the watchdogs we have already posted (Princess Luna of Equality, Agent Eli, and Fearless Fred)!
The FHCCI is very excited to see the submissions and will gladly answer any questions you may have. Please submit questions to info@fhcci.org or feel free to ask on the Facebook event page! Thank you for your support of fair housing!
