Terry Horton, a Cincinnati landlord, discusses racial bias he believes he experienced in 2022 when he sought to refinance his rental property. He said his bank believed his property would be valued at $500,000 but the appraisal only valued it at $359,000.

A Black couple in Northern California says an appraiser undervalued their home by nearly half a million dollars because of their race. In this CBS News story from 2021, they discuss asking a white friend to show the home for a second appraisal, which was then significantly higher.
