The Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana (FHCCI) is a private, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission is to ensure equal housing opportunities by eliminating housing discrimination through advocacy, enforcement, education, and outreach. The FHCCI fights housing discrimination not only because it is unlawful, but also because it is a divisive force that perpetuates poverty, segregation, ignorance, fear, and hatred. The FHCCI offers four main programs to fight housing discrimination and promote equal housing opportunity: Advocacy, Education, Inclusive Communities, and Public Policy. Learn more about us by reviewing our About Us or Programs pages.
When the Fair Housing Act was passed in 1968, it made it unlawful to discriminate in housing transactions due to protected classes. Unfortunately, what the Fair Housing Act couldn’t do by itself was fix the incidents of systemic housing discrimination that had already been done to communities across the country. Learn how the FHCCI is working in our neighborhoods to ensure that those most negatively impacted by housing discrimination receive vital programs to address decades of redlining, blockbusting, and other harmful incidents of segregation and disinvestment.
The FHCCI hosts a variety of virtual training events throughout the year and a yearly April Fair Housing Conference. Learn about upcoming events on our Events Page.
